Enrolment Guidelines.

All enrolment applications shall be classified as Preferential or Non-Preferential.

Preferential enrolment a  shall be given to those pupils with parents or guardians who have established a particular connection with the
Special Character of the school through a demonstration of their desire for a Christ-centered education for their children.

Non-Preferential enrolment – The number of pupils whose parents do not have a preference for enrolment at the school shall be limited to 10% of the
maximum roll of the School.
ORDER OF CONSIDERATION
Subject to otherwise meeting the respective criteria for enrolment, and places, determined by the Principal as being available at the preferred entry level
the following order of consideration shall be applicable.
The order of consideration, stipulates only the order in which applicants are considered and does not imply a guarantee another to the highest
ranked applicant.
PREFERENTIAL ENROLMENT APPLICANTS
  1. Children of current staff members.
  2. Students whose parents (or one of them) are involved in full-time ministry within a Christian church or ministry or who are returning from active
    Christian missionary service.
  3. Siblings of present students who have clearly demonstrated support for the Special Christian Character of the School.
  4. Children of past staff members.
  5. Students from Christian Early Childhood Centres, entering the School at Year 0 and Year 1 whose parents clearly demonstrate support for the Special
    Christian Character of the School.
  6. Students transferring from a similar Christian School whose parents have clearly demonstrated support for the Special Christian Character of their
    school.
  7. Former students returning to Sonrise Christian School who have clearly demonstrated support for the Special Christian Character.
  8. Siblings of former students who fully support the Special Christian Character of the School.
  9. Children of former students who fully support the Special Christian Character of the School.
  10. Other children whose parents clearly demonstrate support for the Special Christian Character of the School.  
Non-Preferential applicants
State integrated schools have places for non-preference students.
  1. This school has a maximum of 15 places. (10% of the maximum roll).
  2. There are currently 0 places likely to available in this year.
  3. No non-preference places are likely for at least 6 months.
  4. Non-Preference places criteria:
    • The applicants accept that they will be attending a school of special character and that their place in the school is conditional on their
      participation in the programme.
    • The applicants accept that they will be required to pay attendance dues as set by the Proprietor and these are not voluntary.
    In this grouping, consideration will be given in the following order (The order of consideration, stipulates only the order in which applicants are
    considered and does not imply a guarantee of an offer to the highest ranked applicant).
  5. Siblings of current non-preference students.
  6. Non-preference students from feeder schools or preschools.
  7. Siblings or children of former non-preference students..
  8. Non-preference applicants who are children of employees of the School.
  9. Other non-preference applicants.
In the case of applicants (preference and non-preference) with special needs, the Principal must take into consideration the nature of the special need and the School’s ability to provide the required environment and resources.
Waiting List Procedure
All unsuccessful applicants may choose to have their names placed on a waiting list. The waiting list will be kept within relevant priority categories,
ranked in order. Students on the waiting list may be offered places at a later date if they become available. The waiting list will remain current until the
beginning of the next enrolment intake.
The Principal may at any time, re-categorise student’s enrolment status based upon the application of the current Enrolment Policy of the Board, as
approved by the Proprietor, and will advise the parents/caregivers accordingly in writing.
